By loading and playing on this site you accept the terms below. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
What the service is
2048gamefree.com is a free browser implementation of the sliding number puzzle 2048 and its variants. There are no user accounts, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no payment of any kind. The site is provided as-is, for personal entertainment.
Your games, scores and preferences are saved by your own browser on your own device. We do not hold them, cannot restore them, and are not responsible if your browser clears them. The privacy policy explains this in detail.
Acceptable use
- Play as much as you like, on any device, for personal or classroom use.
- Link to any page here freely. No permission is needed.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for vulnerabilities without contacting us first, or use automated tools to place load on it.
- Do not republish the site's pages or wrap the game in an iframe on another domain and present it as your own.
Found a security issue? Tell us at our contact page before disclosing it publicly, and we will fix it.
Intellectual property
The original 2048 was created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014 and released under the MIT licence. This site is an independent, from-scratch implementation and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Gabriele Cirulli or play2048.co. The name 2048 describes the game, and the numbers on the tiles are not ours to own.
The written guides, page copy, artwork and source code produced for this site belong to its operator. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back. Wholesale copying of the guides onto another site is not permitted.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that it will run identically in every browser. Board states, scores and undo history can be lost by browser updates, private browsing modes, storage limits or your own clearing of site data.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of this site is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it, including lost game progress, lost scores or lost time. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Some pages link out for context, such as to the original game or to background reading. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
