The Canine Ladder
2048 Dogs plays the classic game through eleven rungs of dogdom: household pups give way to working dogs, the wild cousins crash the party mid-ladder, and the crown waits at the top. Rules are pure classic 2048 - if you can win there, you can win here, and the reverse is equally true.

About the Order
The ladder is a show-ring story rather than a size chart: it starts with a paw print, works up through working and companion breeds, takes a detour through the wild canids that dogs are related to, and finishes with the rosette and the crown. So this is one theme where the captions genuinely earn their place. If you are deep in a run and cannot remember whether the raccoon dog outranks the fox, the name under each tile settles it without breaking your flow.
Playing It Well
Mechanically this is untouched classic 2048: 90% paw prints, 10% puppies, one new tile per move that actually changes the board, and the same scoring. Every habit from the strategy guide transfers directly. Keep Top Dog's future home in one corner from the very first move, build the chain along one edge, and treat the direction that would drag your best tile out of the corner as forbidden.
One theme-specific tip: because several tiles in the middle of the ladder are visually similar at a glance, big boards get harder to scan than they do with numerals. If you want a long relaxed session with this art, the 6x6 board is more forgiving than pushing the theme onto something enormous.
