2048 for Letter People
2048 Alphabet plays the classic game in a different script: every merge climbs one letter, from A all the way to the winning K. Underneath, the engine is the exact classic 2048 - same spawns, same merge rules, same scoring - so nothing about strategy changes except how your brain reads the board.
The A to K Ladder
Two As make a B, two Bs make a C, and so on. Because each letter is one doubling, the letter's position in the alphabet is its power of two: K is the eleventh letter and 2048 is 2 to the eleventh.

Why Letters Feel Different
- No arithmetic crutch. With numbers you subconsciously compute; with letters you must SEE the board structurally - many players report their positional play actually improves after alphabet sessions.
- Instant readability. Single letters stay huge and legible even on small screens, which makes this a favorite phone variant.
- Same records system. Score still counts numerically behind the scenes, and your alphabet best score is tracked on its own.
A Genuinely Useful Side Effect
Letters make the one rule beginners get wrong impossible to misread. On a numeric board, new players routinely expect a row of 2-2-4 to collapse into a single 8; written as A-A-B it is obvious that the two As become a B and that the new B is a different object from the one next to it. The one-merge-per-move rule stops being a rule you have to remember and becomes something you can see.

"J next to I next to H" is unmistakably a tidy descending chain; "1024 next to 512 next to 256" takes a beat longer to parse, and that beat is where sloppy moves come from.
