2048 Game Free

Privacy Policy

This policy is short because the honest answer to "what data do you collect?" is: almost none. There is one exception, Google Analytics, and it gets its own section below rather than a footnote. Last updated: August 11, 2026.

What stays on your device

Your game boards, scores, best scores, and theme preference are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device, is never transmitted to us, and you can erase it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for 2048gamefree.com.

What we do not do

  • No accounts and no sign-up, so we hold no personal profiles.
  • No advertising networks and no ad-tech identifiers.
  • No session recording, no heatmaps, no fingerprinting.
  • We never sell or share anything, because there is nothing to sell.

Google Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 for one purpose: to see how many people visit and which pages they read, so effort goes to the pages that are actually used. It is the only third-party script on the site.

It records the page you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you used. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.

It is configured to set no cookies at all. Analytics storage is denied before the script even loads, so nothing is written to your browser: no cookie, no stored identifier, nothing that could recognise you on a second visit or follow you to another site. That is also why this site has no cookie banner. There is no cookie to ask you about. The trade-off is ours, not yours. We cannot tell a returning reader from a new one, so our own visitor numbers read high, and we would rather have fuzzy numbers than track you.

Nothing about your actual games goes to Google. Your boards, scores, best scores and undo history are read and written by the page itself and never sent anywhere.

If you would rather not be counted at all, install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, turn on your browser's tracking protection, or use any content blocker. Blocking it does not affect the game in any way, because the game does not depend on it.

The contact form

The form on the contact page is a Google Form embedded in the page. Loading it means your browser talks to Google, and anything you type into it goes to Google and into a sheet only we can read. It asks for your email address and your name so there is somewhere to reply to, plus your message. That is the only place on this site where something you type leaves your browser, and only when you press submit. Nothing about your games is attached. If you would rather not use it, the same page lists an email address that reaches the same person.

Hosting logs

Like effectively every website, our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. We do not use these logs to identify or profile visitors.

Offline cache

To support offline play, the site asks your browser to cache its own files via a service worker. This cache contains only the game's code and pages, and your browser manages it.

Changes and contact
